More Finishes!

Last year I participated in a sew-along with my local quilty BFF, Madonna. Every month we’d make some scrappy blocks and share them via Instagram on the 4th Saturday of the month.

This Cross Plus quilt is a finish from that sew along. I made this scrappilicious quilt for my daughter’s birthday. It was about 5 weeks late, but she loves it!

Her cat loves it too!

Katy quilted it for me…and even blogged about it. 😁

Next up is my Stay Wild Build A Quilt (2020 -2021 4th annual) finish. Build A Quilt is Angela Walters’s version of block of the month. I enjoy BAQ immensely. I’m currently on my 3rd BAQ, but it’s Angela’s 5th Annual. Do you see my little beastie photobomber? His name is Moe.

My long arm locked up when I was almost half way through this quilt. I took it off the frame and attempted to try to finish it on my domestic. I didn’t get very far before I hated what I did. I begged Katy to finish it for me and she obliged. Thanks Katy! 🙏🏼 I have since got Esperanza serviced and she is stitchin’ again.

Speaking of long arms, APQS is giving away another Millie! Apparantly they give one away at least 2x a year. I’ve been faithfully entering everyday.

And last but not least is a baby quilt for my new grand niece. I call it a jellyroll remix. I used various sized 1.5” strips, and quilted it with a simple meander. I really like how it turned out!

The backing is a vintage piece I got from Katy. It worked perfectly!

And that’s a wrap! Thanks for stopping by. Until next time, God bless and happy stitchin’!

People do not drift toward Holiness. Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord. We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; we drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; we drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated.”– DA Carson

My Quilty Bucket R1 Wrap Up

Hi Y’all! It’s been a little over a year since I introduced My Quilty Bucket. It’s a system I came up with to determine which project would be my next one. You can read more about it by clicking here. There are thousands of quilts I want to make, but I found myself not starting certain ones because I thought they were too involved or complex. Anyway, I decided to put several projects in my bucket and whichever one I pulled out, I would work on until completion, then pull my next project, and so on and so forth. I didn’t have a deadline but I realize now that I put way too many projects in my bucket (20 projects and 4 wildcards). Maybe I just had too many “side projects” going on. I was participating in two, block-of-the-month projects (Build A Quilt and Monthly Color Challenge) and a sew-along w/my quilty-bestie Madonna (@sunnybunnyquilts). However, I did finish every project I pulled.

Here are all the projects I put in My Quilty Bucket Round 1.

Bad Girl-pattern
Big X-IG
Black and Beyond-book
Bricks & Squares-ufo (Sew Day Project, see status pic below)
Chevron Quilt
Endless Mountains-book
Ray-fpp
Hot Cross Buns-pattern
HRTs-ufo
Kokeshi Blocks(3-4)-fpp
The Ties that Bind-book
Moonlight & Roses-book
Scrap Happy-book
Scrappy Snowball
Trick or Treat totes (4)
Urban Bow Tie
Wander Thru Woods-pattern
Wonky Rail Fence-book
QAYG Zippered Pouches (6)
Patchwork Pouf – home-dec fabric

This is Bad Girl Quilt (finished 02/2022). Isn’t she LOVELY!! This pic is before washing.

This pattern by Southern Charm Quilts is one that I had been wanting to make for a few years but I was intimidated by the idea of appliqueing the Dresdens. Turns out that Dresdens are fun to make. I top-stitched the blades down w/a straight stitch and then Madonna went back through and stitched them down w/a blanket stitch. Bless her heart! And Katy (@katyquilts) quilted it for me using a pantograph called Malachite by Urban Elementz. This quilt is one of my all-time favorite finishes, but it wouldn’t even be a finish right now if I hadn’t pulled it from My Quilty Bucket.

Here’s a close-up of the quilting.

And this pic is after washing.

I sewed the extra Dresdens on the back.

Chevron (finished 05/2021)

HRTs (finished 07/2021)

Moonlight & Roses – Bargello (finished 05/2021) Hanging on the wall in my work office.

Bricks & Squares – Sew Day project (in progress)

I’m changing things up for My Quilty Bucket Round 2. Stay tuned!

Until next time, Happy Stitchin’ & God Bless!

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time. – Hebrews 4:15-16

My 2021 Finishes

I did a lot of stitching in 2021, but as it turns out I didn’t have a lot of finishes. I am not complaining though. I was able to make all four of my Grands a quilt for their birthday. And I am very grateful for any time I get to spend stitching and making things.

Here are my finishes in reverse order.

A patriotic table topper w/foldover binding.

This is a baby quilt for a friend’s first grandbaby.

Birthday quilt for my eldest granddaughter.

I made this small lap quilt for a challenge during Build A Quilt. I won $100!

Christmas things I made during the summer; stockings, table topper, and wallhanging.

An apron I made for myself. I had always wanted to sew a kitchen towel on an apron to have something readily available to wipe my hands on and to double as pockets. There’s a better pic later on this post.

I finally made a quilt out of some Half Rectangle Triangles my friend Katy cut for me back in 2016! I gave it to my youngest son for his first apartment.

Birthday quilt for my youngest granddaughter.

A long-time-coming quilt for a friend. =)

A bargello wallhanging. This is currently hanging in my office at work.

An apron for my daughter.

Birthday quilt for my youngest grandson.

Birthday quilt for my eldest grandson.

Oh, I almost forgot, for the Goodreads 2021 Reading Challenge I finished 121 books!

That’s all folks!
